Synopsis:

Girish Khedekar, the protagonist in this novel is just out of college and all set to join the numero uno IT Company of the country. He is in love with Prajakta Chitre who is also on her way to join an international IT giant. They plan to build up a good career before letting their families know about their relationship. Unexpectedly their families get involved before Girish can join the company. However the couple manages to convince their parents and their engagement gets fixed. Unfortunately their world turns upside down when recession strike upon the IT sector and Girish and Prajakta lose their jobs. Rest of the story deals with how Girish manages to get a grip on career and how he manages to get Prajata’s hand in marriage.

Review:

First time author, Jayanand Ukey, introduces his book as a heartwarming tale of love, loss and determination and also as a light reading novel. Maybe he has taken the ‘light reading’ part a little too seriously. This book is too simple in its plot, expression and presentation. The story is too simple and it is entirely summarized in the synopsis. There is nothing more to add other than a line or two explaining how Girish manages to get a job and how he convince Prajakta’s dad.

The love story has nothing new to offer other than the usual family predicaments, another suitor for the girl who eventually turns out to be a ‘bad guy’ and a dramatic ending. However if I take the positive side of being this simple a story, it doesn’t make us tense or worried. There is continuous flow and no dragging conversations. Even though the story is predictable, I felt really happy when my predictions turned out to be true. So it was altogether a pleasant read. I would recommend this story for a leisure read if you are on a two or three hours journey (there are only 198 pages and the fonts are pretty big).
